After reading a gazillion reviews on the net, I picked out a handful of eating outlets to check out in melbourne city :) Top on my list, Creperie Le Triskel! (it's a french cafe btw HAHA) Then you say, why french food in Aussie? COS IT'S AUTHENTIC FRENCH :D The owner of the pretty little cafe is a really nice and friendly French lady from Paris! She says she much prefers Aussie cos everyone has a default angsty or snotty face in Paris and the weather in Melbourne's much much better. Thank goodness for her we get to try awesome sweet and savory french crepes outside of France cheers! xD
Lovely alfresco dining! Oh I forgot to mention that we reached 5 min before the kitchen closed! How lucky is that haha! (Yea we walked like super madly quickly our legs were going to drop off but it was definitely worth it :D) And here's the address if you wanna check it out and taste the goodness for yourself xD 32 Hardware Lane
Melbourne VIC 3000
P.S. not open on Sun and Mon!:(
The alfresco dining's awesome :) 15 degree celsius in June hehehe xD
Check out the cool french names and amazingly affordable prices :D
Complimentary salad appetiser, tasty sweet dressing :)
Galette! (savory crepe)
Totally vegetarian cheese galette :)
Caramel Bananana!
Our star of the day: Artsy Fartsy super delicious berries and ice cream crepe!
Artsy French xD
So quirky I had to take a pic xD
Folks stuffed xD Seriously, must try! Service is real good too!
Alrighty! Moving on to Italian food haha! We had dinner at +39 Pizzeria which is just around the corner and down the street from Le Triskel (the crepe place) It's super popular and it opens till real late and hence it was super crowded even at like 9 pm. It was so full it was hard to enter and exit the place! Oh guess what, it's AUTHENTIC ITALIAN hahahaha xD Well, Aussie, esp Melbourne, is so cosmopolitan, there're so many kinds of authentic cruisine to savor! +39 was voted best pizzeria of 2010 by Age Epicure and it does live up to its name xD Here's the add!
362 Little Bourke Street
Melbourne, 3000
Melbourne, 3000
HUGE nutella jars on the back shelf xD
Awesome salad xD Honey dressing was pretty sweet and went really really well with the veg, Parmesan and walnuts
Italian pork sausage pizza! Has quite a strong but unique taste, not really my cup of tea though
Margherita!!!
Yummy xD I personally find the crust a tad too thin and the pizza didn't really have a lot of cheese. So for peeps who love thick fluffy crust, I don't think you'll enjoy the pizza as much as those who like crispy thin crust.
Guess what this is!
Nutella pizza with super good vanilla gelato! See the nutella oozing out omg xD
Lunch at Queen Victoria Market! Some stalls were already packing when we reached so we decided to grab a quick bite at Muletas which is just on the fringe of the market before checking out the place :) It's sorta cafe cum highway restaurant cum bar, kinda interesting I must say xD Hahaha cos I made my family walk freaking fast (as usual) from one end of the CBD to the other, my dad was dam hungry and immediately ordered from the buffet-ish spread you find in highway diners in Europe. The food was still piping hot when it was served! Oh and I LOVE THE FRIES :D Honestly, they taste like real potato fries, not dubious macs fries :X
Mediterranean veg sandwich! Super generous serving xD
Swordfish (On a huge plate with a huge serving of salad) Dunno why the fries didn't cool down even after 20 mins :O
Muahahaha, no time for Pancake Parlour!
Lemon sugar pancake! Sounds simple yet extremely tasty xD The sugar partially melts on the warm moist pancake and when that syrupish stuff is mixed with the sour lemon juice you get a pancake with sweet lemony essence! How cool is that?!
Cos we were so lazy to go out on one rainy and freezing night, we decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant (111 Spring St) :) It was really peaceful and quiet as only 4 tables were occupied. Mosts of the patrons appeared to be business people staying at the hotel. The service was really good and the waiter even offered to take a picture of me and my family :) Price-wise it was the usual hotel price, thirty something bucks for a main course and 10 for a side. Dessert was in the 20 range :) Too bad we weren't that hungry so our dishes were kinda mostly entree and sides :X If you enjoy exotic and creative dishes, this is the place for you, where each dish is a work of art and has an extremely unique taste!
Complimentary appetiser: seafood bisque cappucino, has a very very unique seafood taste
Vegetarian appetiser: watermelon with soy sauce! D: It's salty AND sweet at the same time. See why I say the flavours are exotic xD
Some pork entree
Tuna entree
Cheese spinach with special foam stuff (main)
Pumpkin soup, thick and creamy :)
Mashed potato! Like the soup, it's thick and creamy, and really filling D:
My fav of the day! Chocolate lava cake with salted caramel reduction and vanilla bean ice cream xD
LOOK AT THAT :D The cake had a kind of spice in it that made it a little spicy, but it went really well with the rich and bitter dark chocolate and the sweet and salty caramel sauce :) Not for the light-hearted I'd say, such strong flavours!
Stuffed and happy hahahaha
